Poetry Wednesday: Your Best Event

Please feel free to add a poem to the comments. Here is mine.

jane of all trades, master of none but rhyming with ‘urst’
by holly frixione

gymnastics, soccer, and tennis at first
piano, drums and clarinet never rehearsed
feared back flips from springboards would land me in a hearse
jumped hedges on horses and never fell off head first
bored with all soon enough, needed to be coerced
dragged there kicking and screaming, face pouting, lips pursed
and without a doubt softball was by far the worst
parents’ vision of olympic gold bubble was burst
once an interest in water skiing & racquetball now reversed
quit spanish classes mid-course could not be reimbursed
the urge to learn one thing really well: a spell by which i’ve never been cursed
my best skill is dabbling, for it i’ll always have thirst
