Soooo, welcome! As you likely are aware by now, we’ve skipped town to get married in Maui. For many of you it is a complete surprise. To you I say ‘surprise!’ Some of you had a notion of something happening but didn’t know the whatnot. Some have known a while. Some for only a couple days. And Jenni by the time you read this I’ve hopefully been able to get a hold of you (nothing personal…you’re always the last to know because you live on the east coast. Move to Portland and I’ll tell you first).
We are really excited about this decision. For an explanation of why we’re going this route, and answers to other fun questions, please refer to the F.A.Q department.
Here’s something unexpected. When we departed Portland 3 hours ago it was sunny and beautiful. The weather forecast for Maui says rain for 6 days. Oooh awesome. My brother Chris was envisioning the plan B ceremony scenario with me on the phone the other day, in which the beach wedding gets rained out and we’re moved to a community rec hall with teenagers playing ping pong while Max & I exchange vows. I’m sure it’ll be fine.
Once we land, we’re headed to Napili Bay to check into the condo there. It’s been 8 years since I’ve been to Hawaii, and Max has never been before. I keep telling him that as soon as we get off the plane he’ll be amazed the whole island smells like flowers. Hopefully that’s still the case, though I don’t know maybe now it’s Drakkar Noir or bacon or something. Maybe I should try getting some sleep like Max here. My brain evidently is overcooked from this last couple weeks.
Yay its going to be fun. Glad to have you here to celebrate with us…in a 3000-6000 miles away kind of ‘with us’.
XOXO & Aloha (as friend and Hawaii lover Chris King says, “it’s more than just hello, it’s a way of life”)
